Newark, NJ - Officials from the Newark Community Health Centers (NCHC), Inc. announced the opening of the Orange Community Health Center, located at 37 North Day Street. The new facility is one of seven community-based health care centers operated by NCHC’s primary care network.
“This new center is a further testament to our continued dedication and mission to ensure that families and individuals receive quality health care,” said Peter Velez, President and Chief Officer of the Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. “By expanding our services and opening our doors in Orange, our physicians and staff will be able to reach and serve more families in our communities.”

The new facility provides comprehensive family health care, ranging from internal medicine, pediatric care, gynecology, podiatry and nutritional counseling. NCHC is one of the largest providers of comprehensive primary care services for insured and uninsured individuals, as well as local families in need of efficient health care in Essex County.
“The new center is important because it will serve as the health care safety net in a community that has no acute care facility,” said Dr. Nancy Tham, Chief Medical Officer. “Community health centers are making an impact towards decreasing the health disparities facing minority communities. Through our collaboratives: diabetes and asthma, we are hoping to decrease admissions and emergency room visits to the local hospitals.”
