RELIEF EFFORTS

NCHC Employees Sponsor Donation Drive To Assist Haitian Families & Victims

Newark, NJ – A day after a devastating earthquake rocked Haiti, Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. launched a donation drive to assist families and victims. The federally qualified health center network, the largest in Essex County, is asking for donations to help the people of Haiti after one of the strongest earthquakes in 200 years.

“We are deeply concerned and saddened by this horrific natural catastrophe,” said Peter R. Velez, President and CEO of Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. “NCHC wishes to express our support to our many Haitian employees whose relatives and loved one are in Haiti. We are encouraging all our employees to assist with relief efforts.”

Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. has set up two Haiti Earthquake Relief drop off boxes at two locations, including 741 Broadway in Newark and 444 William Street in East Orange. If you would like to make a donation, NCHC is asking employees and residents for the following items.

•  New clothing (used clothing is discouraged)
•  Non-perishable, non-expired food items in cans, boxes or plastic containers
•  Sealed personal hygiene products
•  Flashlights / batteries
•  Toys
•  Tools and equipment
•  Non-Rx and non-expired medical supplies in sealed containers, non-Rx and non-expired
•  Water
