The recent closure of two hospitals serving Essex County will impact greatly on the health care system and the availability of clinical services to an already medically challenged population. Many of these residents have historically used hospital emergency rooms incorrectly for their primary care medical needs. Studies have shown that inappropriate emergency room utilization does not offer the medical care needed and can contribute to medical issues that can be avoided through greater access to primary and preventative care.
NCHC stands ready to meet the clinical challenges faced by the community. Our Board of Directors, management, and staff understand the importance of the timely coordination and integration of area residents into our system of quality medical and dental services. NCHC has already begun to assure the appropriate transition of these potential clients to our network of health centers. In this regard we will focus on each individual’s wellness and the provision of health education and quality primary and preventative care. We want all our clients to think of NCHC as their permanent medical home.
